Cavity Wall Insulation

From the 1930’s onwards most dwellings were of cavity wall construction. This means there is an inner and an outer wall with a cavity in between. This type of dwelling is suitable for cavity wall insulation. We are NSAI approved to install both the Warmfill & Korefill Silver Bonded Bead products, you can read more on our products page. Cavity Wall Insulation with Silver Bonded Bead is an expanded Polystyrene Bead which is injected into existing or newly built cavity walls with a bonding agent.

Typical Construction

  • Brick or outer leaf (which may be rendered)
  • Cavity fully filled with Silver Bonded Bead
  • Brick or block inner leaf.
  • Internal plaster finish

Method of Installation:

22mm holes are bored into the external walls of the building, they can also be drilled internally if required this method is commonly carried out on new builds.

A boroscope test is carried out to assess the suitability for cavity wall insulation

Holes are approximately the size of a one euro coin.

Silver Bead along with an adhesive are pumped under pressure into the cavity.

Cavity full fill is achieved everytime

Wall cavity insulationHoles are filled with matching mortar

The walls are warmer after insulation which in most cases results in the elimination of condensation.

Government figures state that for the majority of houses 35% of heat is lost through the walls. It is estimated that 66% of this can be saved by insulating the walls. This is an overall saving of 25%. The cost of insulating walls is recouped in less than three years from savings on heating bills. With the current grant scheme from SEI some home owners can have up to 100% return in there first year depending on the size of there home. You can read more on this on our grant page.

The Silver Bonded Bead is fully approved by the National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI) and all our operatives are trained to NSAI standards. Our product is accepted by Homebond in New Builds.
